Watch Monday Night Football On ESPN

NFL Schedule Starting With Green Bay and Raiders

Monday Night Football has been an organization for more than 35 years, even as it switched from ABC to ESPN lately. This season’s Monday Night Football schedule officially begins tonight as Week 1 wraps up. As moving to ESPN, the Monday Night Football schedule has had a doubleheader in Week 1 and not only one game. Thus after the first Monday Night Football game at 7 p.m., an additional game will start at 10 p.m. for West Coast fans. But tonight, most eyes will be on the first game on the Monday Night Football schedule, as the Packers host the Vikings before the Raiders take on the Broncos.

In Green Bay, the Packers finally legitimately begin the Aaron Rodgers period. Aaron and the Packers get tested right from the start, as the Vikings and Adrien Peterson are expected to be their major rivalry in the NFC North. The Packers expect that they can get to the Super Bowl even without Farve, as the Vikings look to make a big statement to start a year of high prospect.

The game might have made greater news if Brett Farve joined the Vikings, as it was reported he may have before he eventually signed with the Jets. But the Packers and Vikings are just using their challenge and Aaron Rodgers to make reports for this first Monday Night Football match.

Within Oakland, the Raiders start a new rebuilding year, trying to regain on top under number 1 draft pick JaMarcus Russell. The Raiders face their old arch-rival, the Denver Broncos, who are entering a very critical year. Long time coach Mike Shanahan is on the hot seat, like his quarterback Jay Cutler. The Broncos need a high-quality season to keep Shanahan and Cutler from getting the boot, as the Raiders just hope to return to decency.
